Generally classed as a Georgian town, Stamford’s history goes much further back. The grand Elizabethan mansion, Burghley House is but a stone’s throw away.
Stamford was the first conservation area to be designated in England and is home to approximately 600 listed buildings
Stamford also lays claim to having the oldest provincial continuous newspaper, in print since 1712.
Stamford and its surroundings have been featured on many a film set.
At the heart of this town, on the wide expanse of Broad Street, amongst a host of beautiful architecture, is the Corn Exchange Café & Shops. This hidden gem is home to 29 individual, independent shops with character and a wonderful Café, all situated within the Corn Exchange Theatre Building.
